What’s better than finding an ugly treasure and making it pretty for your home?
Finding an ugly treasure and making it pretty for a friend’s home!
My friend Shelley found 6 of these chairs on Craig’s List. They are (bless their hearts) holding firmly to the 80’s.
They could have come straight from the Golden Girls set. Can’t you just see these in the kitchen where Dorothy is frustrated with everything that Rose, Blanche and Sophia are saying? Her giant earrings would be hitting her massive shoulder pads as she shook her head at their self-inflicted troubles.
Ah, the 80’s. They were not good for our sense of fashion or home decor, but TV from that era still holds up. 😉
Six of these chairs would have taken forever to paint with a brush because of all the detail, and I don’t have that much patience. But since we had the paint sprayer we had two coats of paint on each chair in under 4 hours so my sanity stayed in tact.
Thank you HomeRight Finish Max sprayer, you are so good to me.
All of this was completed in my spray tent in the garage. My neighbors are always perplexed when I have my garage door open.
They must think that we LOVE to camp.
Shelley wanted a light neutral because her dining room has a good bit of pattern in it already. She chose a greige latex paint and a grey tone on tone chevron fabric. I am always amazed at what a difference paint and fabric makes.
Welcome to 2015 chairs, nice to have you here.
It’s about time.
The seat covers took a little elbow grease when I was stapling the new fabric on, but it was worth the effort to get that it took to get that shade of green to go away.
Actually, any amount of effort is worth it to get that shade of green to go away.
Once they were finished I had to try them around my dining room table. Shelley is lucky that I have more chairs than I need in my life. These could have worked for me very easily, don’t you think?
I could invite my friends and mother over and we could be our own little group of crazy friends. Golden Girls 2.0 series.
I pretty sure that I would be Dorothy.
Which character from GG would you be? If you say Blanche, we probably need to discuss your behavior…
