Well, it has finally begun…the Office is getting a face lift/desk lift/organizational lift!! (not sure if 2 of those are actual things, but we are doing them anyway–rebels)

MM Office redo #1

This office is right off our front entrance and has been an eye-sore (sorry honey) for 7 years.  Although I have continued to use it daily, I haven’t really enjoyed LOOKING at it.  <blech>  In the beginning when we purchased this desk, it was a definite upgrade from the one we had in our other house.  It had 2 drawers after all!  And one filing drawer!  Woohoo!  I thought I had hit the office jackpot! We had cubbies for books, space for the computer, printer and (a few years later) my silhouette machine.  What else could we possibly need?

MM office redo #3

Fast forward 7 years.

We have TONS of stuff that needs to be filed.  A lot of it is ‘businessy’ but a good portion of it is family related and I can’t just stuff it in any random spot.  There needs to be a file for things like… Pretty Girls finger painting and Buster’s K4 class picture or Bruiser’s ER records.

You get it, right?  These are the things that I want to be able to pull out when my children have children that finger paint or make funny faces in their class group pic or fall and create a permanent dimple in their cheek with a window sill–you know–normal stuff.

MM office redo #4

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not a hoarder (they all say that though, don’t they?).  I do actually throw out handmade art that my kids make–I’m sure a mom out there just fainted…  I just try to save the really good pieces.  The rest get hidden under empty milk jugs in the trash can.  Yep.  Mom of the year.

I digress.

Soooooo, here is my idea board for the office improvements.  We shall see if it turns out anything like what is in my head (which is perfect and may or may not include an office assistant and birds chirping right outside my window).  Hopefully I can get it all set up and organized and then more importantly keep it organized!OB-MM office boardYummy, no?   Btw, the only piece that is staying from the old office is the gorgeous painting done by our friend Katie Walker.  It is one of my all-time-most-favorite pieces of art.  So before I go, here is another look of the office {before} photo.  Try not to have nightmares.

I can’t wait to see the finished room! I love your inspiration board—it’s gonna be awesome!!! I am reworking my “art room” right now. I could seriously use some inspiration! It has become a bit of a disaster! I am too right brained to keep it organized but at least need to come up with a good system so maybe it has a fighting chance!!!
