Did you ever watch The Price is Right?
Remember the big wheel that contestants would spin to see if they get to be on the showcase showdown? Well, I totally landed on $1.00. Actually my front door is the big winner.
Last year at a conference that I attended, Modern Masters had a booth with a ‘Spin for your chance to win’ wheel. I spun (and I totally didn’t help the wheel along by blowing on it) and was completely surprised that it landed on ‘choice of front door paint’. Winner? Who me???
Just in time! Our front door has been needing a makeover since it faces due west and gets the brunt of the Florida sun.
The trim around the glass actually cracked because of the heat, so that had to be replaced. We really should have videoed this task for your viewing pleasure, but alas I didn’t realize it would be as funny to see before we started working. There were a few times when we had a Lucy & Ethel / 3 Stooges moment.
The replacement frames came unpainted and look ridiculous. The doors were faded, streaked and no longer the original color–which was a dark forest green.
So we had the trifecta of horridness happening at our front door. Not exactly the way we wanted to greet our guests.
Then my (fairly won) prize arrived.
Even after the first coat, I knew it was going to be good. This paint goes on easily and doesn’t show brush strokes. It also doesn’t take much paint. I did 2 full coats and then one more to touch up spots that needed them and I still have over half of the container of paint left! I have a back door that will be getting a makeover with the remainder.
Thank you Modern Masters for making my door pretty again! Now if only Ford could have a spin the wheel to win an F150… 😉
Does your front door need a little makeover? What color would you pick?
