Have you ever read the book ‘If you give a mouse a cookie’? You know the story in which someone gives a mouse a cookie and then the mouse needs milk to go with the cookie which leads to him needing a straw and a mirror and nail scissors and a broom. And so on and so forth.
Well, that’s what happens when I get new hardware for my old TV cabinet.
This month’s challenge with the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest was to transform a piece of furniture with knobs from D. Lawless Hardware. So, that led to repainting the cabinet, removing the doors that no longer closed, dusting (yes, that took as much time as anything else I did) and removing the in-wall speakers to put shiplap on the wall behind the cabinet.
Then the second chapter included new sofas and lamp shades, but we will get to that later.
This cabinet has been here for 10 years and I think it has NEVER EVER been dusted. Ever.
So after a good dusting I painted the entire cabinet with two different shades of blue milk paint. The brass pulls are just what this piece needs to dress up for the party.
I love the way the knobs sparkle against the matte finish of the paint, they really class it up, don’t they?
I wonder what would have happened in that book if it was entitled ‘If you give a mouse some lovely knobs’. Now that would have been a book that I could have read over and over.
