MM Desk Blotter label

Here is a simple, fun, cheap, easy, adorable, super-cool way to spruce up your desk area.  This literally took me 5 minutes to make.  No Joke.  My SIL was in town and when she is here that means AUNT AMY COOKS AND I GET THE NIGHT OFF!!  Woohoo!  She comes to stay with us when she has work in the Orlando area.  That is several times a year (thank goodness).  When I tell the family that she has ‘booked’ a room at McCall Manor for a night, Buster immediately asks  “Is she fixing spaghetti?” (before you ask–no, our spaghetti isn’t broken.  We are southern and we fix meals)

So, while Aunt Amy was fixing her famous spaghetti in the kitchen I took that time to work on this easy project.

Here are the supplies that you will need:

Desk Pad from Ikea ($5.99)

Spray adhesive

1/2 yard of fabric (mine was $3 at JoAnn’s)

MM Desk Blotter #1

Iron any wrinkles out of your fabric and smooth it out on a flat surface.

Spray the adhesive on the back side of the desk pad.

Lay your desk pad on your fabric making sure to keep it straight and smooth.

MM Desk Blotter #2

Trim the edges.

Boom.  Done.

MM Desk Blotter #3

I added our last initial so that none of my ‘friends’ would try and steal it. 😉

MM Desk Blotter #4

No one in my family rolled their eyes over this project!!  Score!!!

MM Desk Blotter #5

What do you think about my personalized desk blotter?  Are YOU rolling your eyes at me?

I am not rolling my eyes at you, Holly. However that happens a lot at my house as well. I love this project! What did you use to add the letter?

    • hollymcc says:

I made it with my Silhouette machine. You could use a stencil and a sharpie or paint as well though. Or if you ask reeeeeeally nicely, I can make you one and send it your way!! 😉

I totally love your desk blotter! I am definitely going to do one, I’m planning on using your idea of a stencil as I don’t have a Silhouette machine. 🙂 Thanks for this easy and beautiful idea!

Thanks for sharing! I’m curious, did you just use basic scissors to trim your fabric? I can’t cut a straight line, lol 😉

    • hollymcc says:

I did. Once I glued the fabric to the blotter, I just trimmed with regular scissors. My cutting skills lack a lot to be desired… good luck!
