The Pretty Girl and I always do a little happy dance when late Fall comes around and Chick-Fil-A waltzes out with their limited time milkshake. It’s a peppermint chocolate chip something or other. I don’t care what it’s called, I just care what it tastes like. If you haven’t tried it, well you just haven’t lived yet.
We will get one to share and it seems we laugh a little more than usual. The Christmas lights twinkle a little brighter. The rest of the day seems to go our way. Parking spaces open up just at the right time, items we need at the store are magically on sale. Our hair has that “fresh from the salon” look about it.
I’m telling you, it’s that good.
But then it goes away sometime in January and the world seems a bit more gray. Even here in Florida. We will cautiously ask at the counter/window and are met with sad faces that tell us the milkshakes are gone. Everyone in the restaurant seems to sigh collectively and slump their shoulders just a wee bit more. It’s a sad day in deed.
But never fear. I have the solution. We never have to go with out the magical flavors from that milkshake ever again.
In the December issue of Country Living there is a Peppermint Icebox pie recipe. I made it for our church get together right before Thanksgiving. The teens went through the line first and when the Pretty Girl tried it her eyes lit up. Guess what…the pie tastes just like the milkshake!
I’m pretty sure angels started singing. I felt like we witnessed a tiny Christmas miracle that night.
So I wanted to share it with you and you are more than welcome to make one for me as a thank you. 😉
